6th Grade Class Trip Was a Huge Success!
Because of your generous contributions to the Harding PTA, we were able to send the 6th grade class to the Marin Headlands for an outdoor adventure with NatureBridge. Here are some pictures from their trip.
Request for Proposals
With the Seele Star program discontinued until January 2025, the Harding PTA is seeking proposals for a temporary program to run from February through June 2024, and September through December 2024.
Requirements for the program are:
- Instructor to be a credentialed teacher and cleared to lead students without primary teacher present (CBEST minimum)
- Must run Monday through Wednesday during school hours and instruct each class for 40-50 minutes per agreed-upon schedule
- Must run from the classrooms or other agreed-upon available space on campus
- Stay within an allocated budget of $20k for February – June 2024 inclusive of instructor fees and materials (TBD budget for September – December 2024).
Proposal should include description of program, sample lesson plan(s) if available, summary of relevant instructor experience, and fee schedule.
Proposals should be submitted to the Harding PTA via email to Sandra Payne, Programs Chair: spineda2011@gmail.com no later than January 31, 2024.

Dining Out Fundraiser: 2/15
Come support a Harding family-owned, local restaurant and our elementary school for our monthly dining-out Fundraiser on Thursday, February 15th at Tigon Vietnamese restaurant on San Pablo and Central, from 10AM-9PM.
Tigon will generously donate 20% of their pre-tax proceeds from your meal to our school (including their full bar).

2025 Spring Break Trip to Washington D.C. with Korematsu Middle School
We are excited to announce that in 2025, we will have a student tour to Washington, DC, during Spring Break. This trip will be open to all students who have or will have attended Korematsu Middle School from 2023 to 2025. The sign-up for the info meeting for the 2025 Spring Break trip to Washington, DC, is here.
A Spring Break trip to Washington DC is a traditional trip for many middle schoolers throughout the United States. Last year, we had 85 student travelers from Korematsu attend our DC trip during a time when thousands of middle school students from throughout the country were present. Student travel is a wonderful opportunity for students to expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and become more independent.
Some highlights include visiting Smithsonian museums and various historical sites, dinner/dancing on the Potomac cruise, and much more!
We’re Looking for Donations!

Volunteer Opportunities
2-3 Volunteers are needed for the Harding PTA Nominating Committee!
It’s a very small time commitment (~1-2 hours total over February – April). Please contact Andrea Wildenberg at parliamentarian@hardingpta.org if you are interested in joining, or just want to learn more about what it entails.
Ongoing Needs
Harding is lucky to have an active parent community – everyone’s help is welcome and appreciated! Here are ways you can volunteer:
- AT LUNCH/RECESS: Sign Up HERE for for play yard and lunch recess volunteering for 2023/24. We’re asking families to sign up for 4 days/year. More info.
- IN THE GARDEN: Drop in (on the yard) Mondays 9:30 – 10:45 to help the garden coordinators with kids in the garden. Sign up here to help with Garden projects. Run a second day/week with kids in the garden (email the garden coordinators)
- IN THE CLASSROOM: Assist individual students or small groups with reading, math, or science activities – contact your student’s teacher
- FUNDRAISING: Assist with flamingo flocking, the Spring auction, the walk/roll-a-thon or read-a-thon etc.! (email the fundraising chair)
- OTHER SKILLS: Whatever else you have to offer!
Contact the Volunteer Coordinator with questions or to work on your own volunteer ideas!
Remember to get your volunteer badge either at the district office or during an upcoming Fingerprinting Party.

2025年に、春休み中にワシントンD.C.への生徒ツアーが開催されることをお知らせして嬉しく思います。この旅行は、2023年から2025年までの間にKorematsu中学に在籍しているか、在籍する予定のすべての生徒に開かれています。2025年春休みのワシントンD.C.への旅行の情報会議へのサインアップはこちらです。
ワシントンD.C.への春休みの旅行は、アメリカ全体の多くの中学生にとっての伝統的なイベントです。昨年は、Korematsuから85人の生徒が参加し、全国中の数千人の中学生が一堂に会する時期でした。生徒の旅行は、彼らの周りの世界に関する知識を拡げ、自分自身についてさらに多くを発見し、より独立した存在になる素晴らしい機会です。
ツアーのハイライトには、スミソニアン博物館やさまざまな歴史的な場所の訪問、ポトマック川クルーズでの夕食/ダンスなどが含まれます！

ハーディングPTAの指名委員会には2〜3人のボランティアが必要です！
非常に少ない時間のコミットメント（2月から4月までの合計で約1〜2時間）です。参加に興味があるか、それが何を含むかを詳しく知りたい場合は、Andrea Wildenberg（parliamentarian@hardingpta.org）に連絡してください。
- 「ガーデンでのお手伝い：毎週月曜日 9:30 – 10:45（労働者の日の週は火曜日）に、ガーデンのコーディネーターと一緒にガーデンで子供たちを手伝いに来てください。ガーデンプロジェクトのお手伝いにサインアップするには、こちらにサインアップしてください。子供たちと一緒にガーデンで2日目/週を運営する場合は、ガーデンのコーディネーターにメールでお問い合わせください。」
- 資金調達： フラミンゴの設置、春のオークション、歩行/ロールアソンや読書マラソンなどに協力してください！ または自分自身のアイデア/イベントを考えてください！（メール未提供です！現在はVolunteer Coordinatorに連絡してください）
- 図書館で： 図書館のスタッフ（図書館委員会の議長またはルームペアレントに連絡してください。ルームペアレントがわからない場合は、担任教師にお尋ねください）
- 学校全体のイベント： 遠足の付添い、ホリデーイベントや春のコンサートの手伝いなど（Volunteer Coordinatorに連絡してください）
その他の必要なスキル： 他に提供できるものは何でも！

ボランティアバッジを取得するために、区の事務所で取得するか、または近日行われる指紋パーティで取得することを忘れないでください。

ボランティアの機会は常に利用可能で、一緒に過ごすのが楽しいグループです。
どなたでも歓迎します。特定のスキルは必要ありません。
PTAは、9月、10月、12月、2月、4月、5月の第1火曜日に会合を開催します（別の情報が提供されない限り）。
コミュニティの意見と参加は、PTAの機能方法やすべての生徒に提供するプログラムに非常に重要です。会議に出席し、Slack、週刊Enewsletter、およびHardingpta.orgのPTA通信に接続することで、情報にアクセスし、あなたの声が届くことを確認できます！
