Welcome to fall! 
Staff and students are working hard each day and are in the full swing of learning! I just wanted to put a few important dates on your radar, as time will fly by 🙂 Teachers will reach out to you in the coming days, if they haven’t already done so, to set up Parent-Teacher Conferences. Thank you to all the parent/family volunteers who have joined us in the last few weeks in the Library, during lunchtime–especially on those smoky days, and in the classroom.

- When will Harding t-shirts be available? We plan to have them for purchase at the Carnival October 15th and free for all Harding students at the Tigerthon on October 26 which is during Spirit Week (October 23 -27).
The Giving Campaign has raised over $28,000!
None of this success would be possible without generous donors like you. Thank you for your support and belief in the enrichment programs at Harding. The PTA simply couldn’t do what we do without amazing people like you!
Camp Herms Annual Camp Out!
Annual Harding Campout at Camp Herms in El Cerrito on Saturday, October 7th
Harding families, staff, and teachers (and their families), come join the Harding Community in one of Harding’s most unique school-wide events. It’s a sleepover in the redwoods with a potluck, games, campfire, and s’mores!

Richmond Art Center – Family Art Day
Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day!
When: Saturday, October 7, 12pm-3pm | FREE
Where: Richmond Art Center (courtyard), 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond
We’re coming together on Saturday, October 7, 12pm-3pm, to lift up and celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day through art making.
Fall Family Day will feature a community mural with Luis Garcia, Powwow reading corner, drop-in art making activities, games, music, and vendors. The free event is open to kids of all ages and their grown-ups. No rsvp is necessary.
Harding Carnival is Coming BAAAACK!!!
When: October 15th from 11am – 4pm

This amazing event is a huge undertaking and we need EVERYONE’s HELP to make it happen. Please sign up to volunteer HERE.
Picture Day – Save the Date!
Picture Day is coming on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023.
Back by popular demand, Lifetouch School Photography will provide a classroom composite for all students. If your student misses the Oct 18th picture day, there will be a make up day on November 17th, 2023.
More information including a pricing/order form should be coming home with your student. You can also look at pricing and pre-order photos online by going to mylifetouch.com and enter the following information.

Volunteer Opportunities
Ongoing Needs
Harding is lucky to have an active parent community – everyone’s help is welcome and appreciated! Here are ways you can volunteer:
- AT LUNCH/RECESS: Sign Up HERE for for play yard and lunch recess volunteering for 2023/24. We’re asking families to sign up for 4 days/year. More info.
- IN THE GARDEN: Drop in (on the yard) Mondays 9:30 – 10:45 to help the garden coordinators with kids in the garden. Sign up here to help with Garden projects. Run a second day/week with kids in the garden (email the garden coordinators)
- IN THE CLASSROOM: Assist individual students or small groups with reading, math, or science activities – contact your student’s teacher
- FUNDRAISING: Assist with flamingo flocking, the Spring auction, the walk/roll-a-thon or read-a-thon etc.! (email the fundraising chair)
- OTHER SKILLS: Whatever else you have to offer!
Contact the Volunteer Coordinator with questions or to work on your own volunteer ideas!
Remember to get your volunteer badge either at the district office or during an upcoming Fingerprinting Party.

All Are Welcome, No Specific Skills Required.
The PTA will meet on the 1st Tuesday of September, October, December, February, April and May, unless alternative information is provided.
Community input and involvement are crucial to how the PTA works and the programs that we fund and provide to all students. Attending meetings and connecting to PTA communications on Slack, the weekly Enewsletter, and Hardingpta.org will ensure that you are in the loop and your voice is heard!

- When will Harding t-shirts be available? We plan to have them for purchase at the Carnival October 15th and free for all Harding students at the Tigerthon on October 26 which is during Spirit Week (October 23 -27).
The Giving Campaign has raised over $28,000!

Camp Herms Annual Camp Out!
Annual Harding Campout at Camp Herms in El Cerrito on Saturday, October 7th
Harding families, staff, and teachers (and their families), come join the Harding Community in one of Harding’s most unique school-wide events. It’s a sleepover in the redwoods with a potluck, games, campfire, and s’mores!

Richmond Art Center – Family Art Day
Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day!
When: Saturday, October 7, 12pm-3pm | FREE
Where: Richmond Art Center (courtyard), 2540 Barrett Avenue, Richmond
We’re coming together on Saturday, October 7, 12pm-3pm, to lift up and celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day through art making.
Fall Family Day will feature a community mural with Luis Garcia, Powwow reading corner, drop-in art making activities, games, music, and vendors. The free event is open to kids of all ages and their grown-ups. No rsvp is necessary.
Harding Carnival is Coming BAAAACK!!!
When: October 15th from 11am – 4pm
Where: Harding Park
This amazing event is a huge undertaking and we need EVERYONE’s HELP to make it happen. Please sign up to volunteer HERE.

Picture Day – Save the Date!
Picture Day is coming on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023.
Back by popular demand, Lifetouch School Photography will provide a classroom composite for all students. If your student misses the Oct 18th picture day, there will be a make up day on November 17th, 2023.
More information including a pricing/order form should be coming home with your student. You can also look at pricing and pre-order photos online by going to mylifetouch.com and enter the following information.

Ongoing Needs
- IN THE GARDEN: Drop in (on the yard) Mondays 9:30 – 10:45 (Tues of Labor Day week) to help the garden coordinators with kids in the garden. Sign up here to help with Garden projects. Run a second day/week with kids in the garden (email the garden coordinators)
- IN THE CLASSROOM: Assist individual students or small groups with reading, math, or science activities (contact your student’s teacher about classroom opportunities)
- FUNDRAISING: Assist with flamingo flocking, the Spring auction, the walk/roll-a-thon or read-a-thon etc.! or come up with your own idea/event! (email pending! for now contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- SCHOOL WIDE EVENTS: Chaperone field trips, help with a holiday event or the Spring Concert, etc. (contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- OTHER SKILLS NEEDED: Whatever else you have to offer!
Contact the Volunteer Coordinator with questions or to work on your own volunteer ideas – we welcome and appreciate EVERYONE’S help!
Remember to get your volunteer badge either at the district office or during an upcoming Fingerprinting Party.

The PTA will meet on the 1st Tuesday of September, October, December, February, April and May, unless alternative information is provided.
