I would first like to express gratitude for the kindness and support you have given me as I transition into my new role as Harding’s Principal. In these first weeks of school, I have experienced firsthand how special the Harding community is. Teachers and staff have been working hard to set up a classroom community with Class Meetings, routines, procedures, and diving into academics. I am so proud of our students and the work they are doing. Thank you to the parents/caregivers who have joined us during lunchtime! Having the extra help and eyes on students is always welcome (make sure you have a volunteer badge!). Here are a couple reminders and important dates coming up:
- PowerSchool: Please complete your annual forms on PowerSchool and make sure your information is up to date. The login link is here.
- Drop-off, Pick-up: See the Bell Schedule for drop-off/pick-up procedures. Remember that there is no stopping for car riders/car drop-off at the Fairmount gate. Car drop-off must be in the white zone on Ashbury-no exceptions-this is a safety issue. Please also plan on saying goodbye to your students at the gate so they can head to their classroom and maximize learning time!
- Volunteering: Please begin the process by going to WCCUSD’s Volunteer Management. If you already have your district volunteer badge make sure to make an appointment with the teacher to volunteer in class, or with Ms. Bell if volunteering at lunch or recess. When volunteering, remember to be mindful of student confidentiality.

Camp Herms Annual Camp Out!
Annual Harding Campout at Camp Herms in El Cerrito on Saturday, October 7th
Harding families, staff, and teachers (and their families), come join the Harding Community in one of Harding’s most unique school-wide events. It’s a sleepover in the redwoods with a potluck, games, campfire, and s’mores!

We are looking forward to another exciting school year filled with PTA funded enrichment programs like, Seele Stars, Playworks, field trips, school-wide assemblies, art cart, classroom supplies, and so much more!
We are pumped to build off the success of last year’s epic fundraisers; Walk & Roll-A-Thon, Read-A-Thon, Spring Auction & Social, and Flocking!
Our academic year begins with a direct ask fundraiser, The Giving Campaign. This year’s goal of The Giving Campaign is $75,000. Be on the lookout for additional information on the Enews and in your student’s backpack. Go Tigers!

Ongoing Needs
Harding is lucky to have an active parent community with volunteers staffing the library, working in the classrooms, chaperoning field trips, and much, much more. Here are ways you can volunteer:
- IN THE CLASSROOM: Assist individual students or small groups with reading, math, or science activities (contact your student’s teacher about classroom opportunities)
- AT HOME: Volunteer at home planning events, designing flyers, doing mailings, helping with e-news or website maintenance (for e-news or website: contact Comms Chair; for other ideas contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- FUNDRAISING: Assist with flamingo flocking, the Spring auction, the walk/roll-a-thon or read-a-thon etc.! or come up with your own idea/event! (email pending! for now contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- IN THE LIBRARY: Staff the library (contact the Library Committee chair or your room parent – if you don’t know who your room parent is, ask your teacher)
- SCHOOL WIDE EVENTS: Chaperone field trips, help with a holiday event or the Spring Concert, etc. (contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- TRANSLATION: Translate written materials into foreign and sign languages (contact the Comms Chair)
- OTHER SKILLS NEEDED: Whatever else you have to offer!

Remember to get your volunteer badge either at the district office or during an upcoming Fingerprinting Party.

Play Like a Girl+ event, September 24th
City of El Cerrito Recreation Department. On Sunday, September 24th we will be hosting our first annual Play Like a Girl+ event. The event aims to build upon AB 2404, which was signed into California law to expand opportunities for girls to play sports in community parks and recreation. The goal of Play Like a Girl+ is to introduce girls+ in grades 2-6 to a variety of sports in a fun-filled setting as well as provide encouragement and resources for long-term involvement in athletics.

Evento Juega como una Niña+, 24 de septiembre
Departamento de Recreación de la Ciudad de El Cerrito. El domingo 24 de septiembre, organizaremos nuestro primer evento anual Juega como una Niña+. El evento tiene como objetivo construir sobre la Ley AB 2404, que se promulgó en la ley de California para ampliar las oportunidades de las niñas para practicar deportes en parques comunitarios y recreación. El objetivo de Juega como una Niña+ es presentar a las niñas+ de los grados 2 a 6 una variedad de deportes en un entorno lleno de diversión, así como brindar aliento y recursos para una participación a largo plazo en el ámbito deportivo.

PowerSchool: 年次フォームをPowerSchool上で記入し、情報が最新であることを確認してください。ログインリンクはこちらです。
登校・下校: 登校・下校の手続きについてはベルスケジュールをご覧ください。フェアマウントゲートでは車での登校・下校は停止できないことをお忘れなく。車での登校はアッシュベリーの白いゾーンで行う必要があります。これに関しては一切の例外はありません。これは安全面の問題です。また、生徒たちが教室に向かい学習時間を最大限に活用できるよう、ゲートで生徒たちに別れを告げることを計画してください。
ボランティア活動: ボランティア活動を始めるには、まずWCCUSDのボランティアマネジメントにアクセスしてプロセスを進めてください。すでに区のボランティアバッジをお持ちの場合は、教室でボランティアするために教師とアポイントメントを取るか、昼食時や休み時間のボランティアの場合はベル先生と連絡を取ってください。ボランティア活動時には、生徒の機密情報を考慮するよう心掛けてください。

キャンプハームズ年次キャンプアウト！
ハーディング年次キャンプアウトは、エルセリートのキャンプハームズで10月7日（土）に開催されます。
ハーディングの家族、スタッフ、教師（およびその家族）の皆様、ハーディングコミュニティと一緒に、ハーディングで最もユニークな学校全体のイベントの一つに参加しませんか。これは、レッドウッドの中での宿泊イベントで、ポットラック、ゲーム、キャンプファイヤー、そしてスモアが楽しめます！
楽しみにしております！また刺激的な学年がやって来ることを、PTA（保護者教師協会）の資金提供によるエンリッチメントプログラムである「Seele Stars」や「Playworks」、遠足、学校全体の集会、アートカート、教室用品などで充実させることを楽しみにしています。
昨年の大成功した募金活動を基盤に、今年も力を入れて取り組んでいきます。ウォーク＆ロール・ア・ソン、リード・ア・ソン、春のオークション＆交流会、そしてフロッキングという壮大な募金活動がありました。
私たちの学年は、ダイレクトアスク募金活動である「ギビングキャンペーン」で始まります。今年の「ギビングキャンペーン」の目標金額は$75,000です。詳細情報はEnewsやお子様のバックパックに追加で掲載されますので、お見逃しなく。頑張れ、タイガース！

「プレイ・ライク・ア・ガール＋」イベント、9月24日
エルセリート市レクリエーション部。日曜日、9月24日に、初めての年次「プレイ・ライク・ア・ガール＋」イベントを開催いたします。このイベントは、AB 2404を拡大することを目指しています。これはカリフォルニア州法に署名され、コミュニティの公園とレクリエーションで女の子がスポーツをする機会を広げるためのものです。 「プレイ・ライク・ア・ガール＋」の目標は、2年生から6年生の女の子たちに、楽しい雰囲気の中でさまざまなスポーツを紹介することであり、長期間のスポーツへの参加を励まし、リソースを提供することです。
