Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! Welcome back to returning students and families, and welcome to Harding for those who are new! I hope you have had a wonderful summer break filled with time for fun, adventures, and rest with family and friends. I am excited to join the Harding community this school year. I have spent time getting to know the staff, and I already feel so welcomed. I feel fortunate to be joining such a talented and dedicated group of educators in service of your children. I look forward to meeting you and our students in person soon.
This school year will undoubtedly be a great one! We will continue to build upon the strengths of our community to ensure the success of all of our students. I am committed to collaborating with you, our teachers, and staff to help our students reach their full potential and to support their evolving needs. I have learned quickly that Harding is truly a special place. Thank you in advance for your trust, support, partnership, and ongoing communication.

Ongoing Needs
Harding is lucky to have an active parent community with volunteers staffing the library, working in the classrooms, chaperoning field trips, and much, much more. Here are ways you can volunteer:
- IN THE CLASSROOM: Assist individual students or small groups with reading, math, or science activities (contact your student’s teacher about classroom opportunities)
- AT HOME: Volunteer at home planning events, designing flyers, doing mailings, helping with e-news or website maintenance (for e-news or website: contact Comms Chair; for other ideas contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- FUNDRAISING: Assist with flamingo flocking, the Spring auction, the walk/roll-a-thon or read-a-thon etc.! or come up with your own idea/event! (email pending! for now contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- IN THE LIBRARY: Staff the library (contact the Library Committee chair or your room parent – if you don’t know who your room parent is, ask your teacher)
- SCHOOL WIDE EVENTS: Chaperone field trips, help with a holiday event or the Spring Concert, etc. (contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- TRANSLATION: Translate written materials into foreign and sign languages (contact the Comms Chair)
- OTHER SKILLS NEEDED: Whatever else you have to offer!

Remember to get your volunteer badge either at the district office or during an upcoming Fingerprinting Party.
Harding After School Enrichment Program (HASEP)
HASEP is designed to bring recreational classes conveniently to the Harding Elementary School campus at the end of the school day. HASEP is offered in three sessions over the school year, with session one running from Tuesday, 9/5/23 – Thursday, 12/14/23. The session one calendar is now available online at www.el-cerrito.org/asep, and includes new as well as popular returning classes such as Textile Arts, Circus, Science, LEGO, and Sports for grades 1st-6th.
HASEP registration opens on Wednesday, August 23 at beginning at 9:00am online: www.el-cerrito.org/onlinereg. HASEP is coordinated by the El Cerrito Recreation Department and questions can be directed to recreation@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us.

Volunteer Opportunities Are Always Available & We Are a Fun Group to Hangout With.
All Are Welcome, No Specific Skills Required.
The PTA will meet on the 1st Tuesday of September, October, December, February, April and May, unless alternative information is provided.
Community input and involvement are crucial to how the PTA works and the programs that we fund and provide to all students. Attending meetings and connecting to PTA communications on Slack, the weekly Enewsletter, and Hardingpta.org will ensure that you are in the loop and your voice is heard!

Play Like a Girl+ event, September 24th
City of El Cerrito Recreation Department. On Sunday, September 24th we will be hosting our first annual Play Like a Girl+ event. The event aims to build upon AB 2404, which was signed into California law to expand opportunities for girls to play sports in community parks and recreation. The goal of Play Like a Girl+ is to introduce girls+ in grades 2-6 to a variety of sports in a fun-filled setting as well as provide encouragement and resources for long-term involvement in athletics.

Programa de Enriquecimiento Después de la Escuela Harding (HASEP)
HASEP está diseñado para llevar clases recreativas de manera conveniente al campus de la Escuela Primaria Harding al final del día escolar. Evento Juega como una Niña+, 24 de septiembre
Departamento de Recreación de la Ciudad de El Cerrito. El domingo 24 de septiembre, organizaremos nuestro primer evento anual Juega como una Niña+. El evento tiene como objetivo construir sobre la Ley AB 2404, que se promulgó en la ley de California para ampliar las oportunidades de las niñas para practicar deportes en parques comunitarios y recreación. El objetivo de Juega como una Niña+ es presentar a las niñas+ de los grados 2 a 6 una variedad de deportes en un entorno lleno de diversión, así como brindar aliento y recursos para una participación a largo plazo en el ámbito deportivo.

ハーディング放課後エンリッチメントプログラム（HASEP）
HASEPは、学校終業後に便利にハーディング小学校キャンパスにレクリエーションクラスを提供することを目的としています。HASEPは学年内で3つのセッションで提供され、セッション1は2023年9月5日（火）から2023年12月14日（木）まで実施されます。セッション1のカレンダーは、www.el-cerrito.org/asepでオンラインでご覧いただけ、1年生から6年生向けの新しい人気のあるTextile Arts、Circus、Science、LEGO、Sportsなどのクラスが含まれています。
HASEPの登録は、オンラインで2023年8月23日（水）午前9時から始まります：www.el-cerrito.org/onlinereg。HASEPはエルセリートレクリエーション部によって調整されており、質問はrecreation@ci.el-cerrito.ca.usに向けて問い合わせることができます。

「プレイ・ライク・ア・ガール＋」イベント、9月24日
エルセリート市レクリエーション部。日曜日、9月24日に、初めての年次「プレイ・ライク・ア・ガール＋」イベントを開催いたします。このイベントは、AB 2404を拡大することを目指しています。これはカリフォルニア州法に署名され、コミュニティの公園とレクリエーションで女の子がスポーツをする機会を広げるためのものです。 「プレイ・ライク・ア・ガール＋」の目標は、2年生から6年生の女の子たちに、楽しい雰囲気の中でさまざまなスポーツを紹介することであり、長期間のスポーツへの参加を励まし、リソースを提供することです。
