Hello Harding Community,
This spring, our Social Emotional Learning has focused on Responsible Decision Making. Take a look at the link and think of ways your child can continue working on these skills over the summer. We are finding that consistent practice and reinforcement of all social skills is needed or students quickly revert to being passive and dependent. With the looming transition to summer, we are also finding that we have needed to revisit Self Management with many students. A good time to support self management can be when you ask your child about their day. If they share a conflict or hard part of the day, ask, “How did you manage that?” or “What strategies did you use to manage that?” Your children are very bright and capable, and feel great when they are in charge of themselves and manage things independently.
Calendar reminders:
- Plan on having your child at school on Friday May 27; it is a regular school day.
- The Memorial Day holiday is on Monday, May 30; there will be no school.

Hola comunidad Harding,
Esta primavera, nuestro aprendizaje socioemocional se ha centrado en la toma de decisiones responsable. Eche un vistazo al enlace y piense en formas en que su hijo puede seguir trabajando en estas habilidades durante el verano. Estamos descubriendo que se necesita una práctica constante y un refuerzo de todas las habilidades sociales o los estudiantes rápidamente vuelven a ser pasivos y dependientes. Con la inminente transición al verano, también nos estamos dando cuenta de que hemos necesitado revisar la autogestión con muchos estudiantes. Un buen momento para apoyar el autocontrol puede ser cuando le pregunta a su hijo sobre su día. Si comparten un conflicto o una parte difícil del día, pregúntales: “¿Cómo manejaste eso?”. o “¿Qué estrategias usaste para manejar eso?” Sus hijos son muy inteligentes y capaces, y se sienten muy bien cuando están a cargo de sí mismos y manejan las cosas de manera independiente.
Recordatorios del calendario:
- Planee tener a su hijo en la escuela el viernes 27 de mayo; es un día normal de escuela.
- El feriado del Día de los Caídos es el lunes 30 de mayo; no habrá escuela.
