Hello Harding Family,
Welcome to December!
We have two weeks left before Winter Break. There is a lot of learning and excitement that will take place in the next 10 school days! Report cards went out last week on Friday, December 1. This is an opportunity to look over the report card and the information within it to set goals, discuss what is going well, and check-in around areas of growth with your student(s). Remind students to have a Growth Mindset and that we are forever learning and lifelong learners. The District shared the following documents to help you with further understanding our new report cards, if needed.

Garden Work Party
Please join us on Sunday 12/10, 9am – 12pm for a garden work party. We will be weeding, pruning back overgrown plants, prepping the hillside for new garden beds and a general clean up. We are planning a garden expansion in the next month so teachers will have more space to grow and we would love the help!
Bring whatever equipment you’ve got (shears, shovels, pickaxe for the hillside. A battery operated chainsaw to trim lower branches of the trees would be super helpful). The district will be bringing a trailer for all our green waste so a couple extra wheelbarrels would be useful as well. Hope to see you there!

Art Cart Needs You
Your donations to the PTA have supported Art Cart, a process-based, recess arts-engagement program, over the past 2.5 years and we’re all so grateful.
Courtney and I (the Art Cart Facilitator team) are in the process of being hired through the district to continue offering Art Cart using the incoming Prop. 28 funds from the state.
Until those funds are released to the district, Art Cart will continue to need the support of PTA funds in order to keep our program running.
If you and your kid love Art Cart, please let us know by sending a testimonial to artmatters100@gmail.com and we’ll be sure to include your words as we advocate to keep Art Cart running on our regular schedule.
Additionally, if you can attend the next PTA meeting (Wed. 12/13 @ 6:30pm in-person in the Harding Library) to offer your in person support of Art Cart, know your voice matters!

2024 TK & Kindergarten Info Session & Tour
Are you zoned for Harding Elementary and is your child eligible to enroll in TK or Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year? If so, join us for a live info session and tour of the school. January 12, 2024 from 9:00-10:30 am in the Harding Elementary School Auditorium.

Food Drive November 13th – December 15th
Harding Elementary is partnering up with St. Jerome of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for their Annual Holiday Food Drive.
Please help us collect nonperishable food items. Canned food is desired, but will accept and use any food that is contributed. Please also make sure food items are not expired.
Teachers will be keeping a tally of how many items are collected in their classroom. The classroom with the most food items will win a pizza party!
There will be 2 winners, one from the upper (3rd-6th) and lower grade (TK-2nd). If you have any questions, please contact the office at 510-231-1413.

Volunteer Opportunities
2-3 Volunteers are needed for the Harding PTA Nominating Committee!
It’s a very small time commitment (~1-2 hours total over February – April). Please contact Andrea Wildenberg at parliamentarian@hardingpta.org if you are interested in joining, or just want to learn more about what it entails.
Ongoing Needs
Harding is lucky to have an active parent community – everyone’s help is welcome and appreciated! Here are ways you can volunteer:
- AT LUNCH/RECESS: Sign Up HERE for for play yard and lunch recess volunteering for 2023/24. We’re asking families to sign up for 4 days/year. More info.
- IN THE GARDEN: Drop in (on the yard) Mondays 9:30 – 10:45 to help the garden coordinators with kids in the garden. Sign up here to help with Garden projects. Run a second day/week with kids in the garden (email the garden coordinators)
- IN THE CLASSROOM: Assist individual students or small groups with reading, math, or science activities – contact your student’s teacher
- FUNDRAISING: Assist with flamingo flocking, the Spring auction, the walk/roll-a-thon or read-a-thon etc.! (email the fundraising chair)
- OTHER SKILLS: Whatever else you have to offer!
Contact the Volunteer Coordinator with questions or to work on your own volunteer ideas!
Remember to get your volunteer badge either at the district office or during an upcoming Fingerprinting Party.

The PTA will meet on the 1st Tuesday of September, October, December, February, April and May, unless alternative information is provided.
Community input and involvement are crucial to how the PTA works and the programs that we fund and provide to all students. Attending meetings and connecting to PTA communications on Slack, the weekly Enewsletter, and Hardingpta.org will ensure that you are in the loop and your voice is heard!

Jornada de Trabajo en el Jardín
Únete a nosotros el domingo 10/12, de 9 a.m. a 12 p.m., para una jornada de trabajo en el jardín. Estaremos desmalezando, podando plantas crecidas, preparando la ladera para nuevos bancales de jardín y realizando una limpieza general. Estamos planeando una expansión del jardín en el próximo mes para que los maestros tengan más espacio para cultivar, ¡y nos encantaría tu ayuda!
Trae cualquier equipo que tengas (tijeras, palas, pico para la ladera). Una motosierra a batería para recortar ramas bajas de los árboles sería de gran ayuda. El distrito proporcionará un remolque para todos nuestros desechos verdes, así que un par de carretillas adicionales también serían útiles. ¡Esperamos verte allí!

Carrito de Arte Necesita Tu Ayuda

冬休みまであと2週間です。来る10日間で学びと興奮がたくさんあります！成績表は先週12月1日に発表されました。これは成績表とその中の情報を確認し、目標を立て、良い点について話し合い、生徒の成長の領域を確認する機会です。生徒に成長マインドセットを持つように思い出させ、私たちは絶えず学び続ける終身学習者であることを伝えてください。必要に応じて、新しい成績表の理解をサポートするために、Districtは以下のドキュメントを共有しました。

ガーデン作業パーティー
日曜日、12/10、午前9時から午後12時まで、ガーデン作業パーティーに参加してください。雑草を抜き、過剰に成長した植物を剪定し、新しいガーデンベッドのために丘の準備をし、一般的な片付けをします。来月中にガーデンを拡張する予定なので、先生たちがもっと広いスペースで育てられるように手伝っていただけると嬉しいです！
お持ちの機器を持参してください（ハサミ、シャベル、丘のためのつるはし。木の低い枝を切るための電動チェーンソーは非常に役立ちます）。地元のゴミ置き場のためにディストリクトがトレーラーを持ってくる予定ですので、数台の余分なホイールバレルも役立ちます。お会いできることを楽しみにしています！

Art Cart があなたを必要としています
PTAへの寄付は、過去2.5年間にわたり、アートカートと呼ばれるリセスアートエンゲージメントプログラムを支えてきました。私たちは皆さんのご支援に感謝しています。
私たち、アートカートファシリテーターチームは、州からの新しいProp. 28資金を使用してアートカートを提供し続けるために、現在学区から雇用される過程にあります。
これらの資金が学区にリリースされるまで、アートカートは通常のスケジュールでプログラムを続けるためにPTAの資金を引き続き必要としています。

2024 TK（幼稚園前学年）およびキンダーガーテン情報セッション＆ツアー
Harding Elementaryに区域指定されており、2024-2025年度の学年にお子様がTKまたはキンダーガーテンに入学できる資格がありますか？ もしそうなら、私たちと一緒に学校のライブ情報セッションとツアーに参加してください。2024年1月12日、午前9:00〜10:30、Harding Elementary Schoolの講堂にて。
エルセリートユースベースボールは5歳から14歳までのすべての子供を対象にしており、スキルレベルは問いません。
春のシーズンの登録が開始されています！
誰：女の子、男の子、どんなスキルレベルの子供でも、5歳から14歳まで。
何：野球！
なぜ：野球をプレーして、一生懸命働いて、友達を作るのは楽しいです！
どこ：エルセリートの地元の公園で。
主なシーズンの日程：
11月1日〜30日：早期登録割引
12月2日、9日、16日：登録済みの選手向けのウィンタークリニック
1月17日：登録の最終日（Shetlandディビジョンは1月31日）
1月下旬：チーム編成のための選手評価
2月初旬：練習開始；使用済みのギアスワップ
3月初旬：試合開始！
5月下旬/6月初旬：プレーオフ/シーズン終了

Food Drive 2023年11月13日から12月15日
Harding Elementaryは、St. Vincent de Paul SocietyのSt. Jeromeと協力して、彼らの年次ホリデーフードドライブを行います。
非常食品アイテムを集めるのにお手伝いください。缶詰が望ましいですが、提供された食品であればどんなものでも受け付けます。また、食品アイテムが期限切れでないことも確認してください。
教室で収集されたアイテムの数を教師が記録します。最も食品アイテムが多い教室は、ピザパーティーを獲得します！

2023-24年度のクラスの担当保護者を募集中！
ハーディングPTAの指名委員会には2〜3人のボランティアが必要です！
非常に少ない時間のコミットメント（2月から4月までの合計で約1〜2時間）です。参加に興味があるか、それが何を含むかを詳しく知りたい場合は、Andrea Wildenberg（parliamentarian@hardingpta.org）に連絡してください。
- 「ガーデンでのお手伝い：毎週月曜日 9:30 – 10:45（労働者の日の週は火曜日）に、ガーデンのコーディネーターと一緒にガーデンで子供たちを手伝いに来てください。ガーデンプロジェクトのお手伝いにサインアップするには、こちらにサインアップしてください。子供たちと一緒にガーデンで2日目/週を運営する場合は、ガーデンのコーディネーターにメールでお問い合わせください。」
- 資金調達： フラミンゴの設置、春のオークション、歩行/ロールアソンや読書マラソンなどに協力してください！ または自分自身のアイデア/イベントを考えてください！（メール未提供です！現在はVolunteer Coordinatorに連絡してください）
- 図書館で： 図書館のスタッフ（図書館委員会の議長またはルームペアレントに連絡してください。ルームペアレントがわからない場合は、担任教師にお尋ねください）
- 学校全体のイベント： 遠足の付添い、ホリデーイベントや春のコンサートの手伝いなど（Volunteer Coordinatorに連絡してください）
その他の必要なスキル： 他に提供できるものは何でも！
