- Will there be Harding t-shirts given out this year? Yes! Please fill out a t-shirt interest form.
- Should I expect a physical volunteer badge in the mail or are badges only digital? The long term plan is for the badges to be digital but currently the finger printing company is still issuing physical badges. So keep an eye out for your badge in the mail and please continue to wear them when you’re volunteering on campus.
Seele Stars, an award-winning, local Children’s Musical Theater Company taught by credentialed teacher Rachel Seele, is back for its fifth PTA-funded year at Harding!
Ms. Seele teaches the entire school population skills through musical theater; singing, dancing, and acting.
Students work toward the goal of multiple performances throughout the year including class performances for each other at school, as well as public performances at El Cerrito High School.
By the end of the program students will have experienced the opportunity to increase self-confidence and learn other lifelong skills that will help them both on and off the stage.
We can’t wait for your star to experience the power of theater and arts education this year at Harding!
Dining Out Fundraiser at Masa on September 12th
Taco Tuesday, September 12th from 10am-10pm
Come support Harding Elementary and a new local business by enjoying Taco Tuesday with fellow Harding families at Masa Tamales and Taqueria on San Pablo at Stockton. Masa will generously donate 20% of all proceeds back to the Harding PTA to help support student programs. Dine in (seating is limited) or place a to-go order. The Art Cart is back for the 2023-2024 school year!
Art Cart is a process-based arts program that facilitates a fun, supportive, and safe space during lunch recess. Art Cart’s mission is to engage students’ imagination through creative self-expression and materials exploration, while empowering students’ self-direction and choice.
Art Cart is thrilled to reconnect with students starting in September during the lunch recess hours. The weekly schedule is the same as last year:
- Wednesday: TK, 1st, 3rd, and 5th.
- Thursday: K, 2nd, 4th, and 6th.
Please promote Art Cart to your student, remind them of their scheduled day and Art Cart’s location by the TK playground area.

Play Like a Girl+ event, September 24th
City of El Cerrito Recreation Department. On Sunday, September 24th we will be hosting our first annual Play Like a Girl+ event. The event aims to build upon AB 2404, which was signed into California law to expand opportunities for girls to play sports in community parks and recreation. The goal of Play Like a Girl+ is to introduce girls+ in grades 2-6 to a variety of sports in a fun-filled setting as well as provide encouragement and resources for long-term involvement in athletics.

Camp Herms Annual Camp Out!
Annual Harding Campout at Camp Herms in El Cerrito on Saturday, October 7th
Harding families, staff, and teachers (and their families), come join the Harding Community in one of Harding’s most unique school-wide events. It’s a sleepover in the redwoods with a potluck, games, campfire, and s’mores!

Staff Lounge Helpers
Our Harding Staff works tirelessly throughout the year to support our students: help keep them fueled up with coffee and bubbly water!
We are looking for 3-7 volunteers to pick up supplies from Trader Joes and drop them off in the staff lounge the first week of the month. This is a super easy way to make a positive difference at school.

Ongoing Needs
- IN THE GARDEN: Drop in (on the yard) Mondays 9:30 – 10:45 (Tues of Labor Day week) to help the garden coordinators with kids in the garden. Sign up here to help with Garden projects. Run a second day/week with kids in the garden (email the garden coordinators)
- IN THE CLASSROOM: Assist individual students or small groups with reading, math, or science activities (contact your student’s teacher about classroom opportunities)
- FUNDRAISING: Assist with flamingo flocking, the Spring auction, the walk/roll-a-thon or read-a-thon etc.! or come up with your own idea/event! (email pending! for now contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- SCHOOL WIDE EVENTS: Chaperone field trips, help with a holiday event or the Spring Concert, etc. (contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- OTHER SKILLS NEEDED: Whatever else you have to offer!

Evento Juega como una Niña+, 24 de septiembre
Departamento de Recreación de la Ciudad de El Cerrito. El domingo 24 de septiembre, organizaremos nuestro primer evento anual Juega como una Niña+. El evento tiene como objetivo construir sobre la Ley AB 2404, que se promulgó en la ley de California para ampliar las oportunidades de las niñas para practicar deportes en parques comunitarios y recreación. El objetivo de Juega como una Niña+ es presentar a las niñas+ de los grados 2 a 6 una variedad de deportes en un entorno lleno de diversión, así como brindar aliento y recursos para una participación a largo plazo en el ámbito deportivo.

Acampada anual de Harding en Camp Herms en El Cerrito el sábado 7 de octubre.

ハーディング年次キャンプアウトは、エルセリートのキャンプハームズで10月7日（土）に開催されます。
ハーディングの家族、スタッフ、教師（およびその家族）の皆様、ハーディングコミュニティと一緒に、ハーディングで最もユニークな学校全体のイベントの一つに参加しませんか。これは、レッドウッドの中での宿泊イベントで、ポットラック、ゲーム、キャンプファイヤー、そしてスモアが楽しめます！
ハーディングカーニバル
日時：１０月１５日（日）午前１１時から午後４時
場所：ハーディングパーク
このカーニバルは、ハーディングの家族や地域の皆さんがとても楽しみにしている行事で、待ちに待った数年ぶりの開催にとてもワクワクしています。開催にあたり、多くのボランティアを必要としています。楽しいカーニバルとなるように、ともに力を合わせましょう！ボランティアのサインナップシートは、英語の欄をご覧ください。

スタッフ・ラウンジ・ヘルパー
ハーディングスタッフは一年中学生たちをサポートするために熱心に働いています。コーヒーと炭酸水でエネルギーを補給できるよう手伝ってください！
1か月に1回、Trader Joe’sから必要な物品を取りに行き、スタッフ・ラウンジに届けるための3〜7人のボランティアを募集しています。これは学校でポジティブな影響を与える簡単な方法です。

- 「ガーデンでのお手伝い：毎週月曜日 9:30 – 10:45（労働者の日の週は火曜日）に、ガーデンのコーディネーターと一緒にガーデンで子供たちを手伝いに来てください。ガーデンプロジェクトのお手伝いにサインアップするには、こちらにサインアップしてください。子供たちと一緒にガーデンで2日目/週を運営する場合は、ガーデンのコーディネーターにメールでお問い合わせください。」
- 資金調達： フラミンゴの設置、春のオークション、歩行/ロールアソンや読書マラソンなどに協力してください！ または自分自身のアイデア/イベントを考えてください！（メール未提供です！現在はVolunteer Coordinatorに連絡してください）
- 図書館で： 図書館のスタッフ（図書館委員会の議長またはルームペアレントに連絡してください。ルームペアレントがわからない場合は、担任教師にお尋ねください）

- Will there be Harding t-shirts given out this year? Yes! Please fill out a t-shirt interest form.
- Should I expect a physical volunteer badge in the mail or are badges only digital? The long term plan is for the badges to be digital but currently the finger printing company is still issuing physical badges. So keep an eye out for your badge in the mail and please continue to wear them when you’re volunteering on campus.
Seele Stars, an award-winning, local Children’s Musical Theater Company taught by credentialed teacher Rachel Seele, is back for its fifth PTA-funded year at Harding!
Ms. Seele teaches the entire school population skills through musical theater; singing, dancing, and acting.
Students work toward the goal of multiple performances throughout the year including class performances for each other at school, as well as public performances at El Cerrito High School.
By the end of the program students will have experienced the opportunity to increase self-confidence and learn other lifelong skills that will help them both on and off the stage.
We can’t wait for your star to experience the power of theater and arts education this year at Harding!
Dining Out Fundraiser at Masa on September 12th
Taco Tuesday, September 12th from 10am-10pm
Come support Harding Elementary and a new local business by enjoying Taco Tuesday with fellow Harding families at Masa Tamales and Taqueria on San Pablo at Stockton. Masa will generously donate 20% of all proceeds back to the Harding PTA to help support student programs. Dine in (seating is limited) or place a to-go order. The Art Cart is back for the 2023-2024 school year!
Art Cart is a process-based arts program that facilitates a fun, supportive, and safe space during lunch recess. Art Cart’s mission is to engage students’ imagination through creative self-expression and materials exploration, while empowering students’ self-direction and choice.
Art Cart is thrilled to reconnect with students starting in September during the lunch recess hours. The weekly schedule is the same as last year:
- Wednesday: TK, 1st, 3rd, and 5th.
- Thursday: K, 2nd, 4th, and 6th.
Please promote Art Cart to your student, remind them of their scheduled day and Art Cart’s location by the TK playground area.

Play Like a Girl+ event, September 24th
City of El Cerrito Recreation Department. On Sunday, September 24th we will be hosting our first annual Play Like a Girl+ event. The event aims to build upon AB 2404, which was signed into California law to expand opportunities for girls to play sports in community parks and recreation. The goal of Play Like a Girl+ is to introduce girls+ in grades 2-6 to a variety of sports in a fun-filled setting as well as provide encouragement and resources for long-term involvement in athletics.

Camp Herms Annual Camp Out!
Annual Harding Campout at Camp Herms in El Cerrito on Saturday, October 7th
Harding families, staff, and teachers (and their families), come join the Harding Community in one of Harding’s most unique school-wide events. It’s a sleepover in the redwoods with a potluck, games, campfire, and s’mores!

Staff Lounge Helpers
Our Harding Staff works tirelessly throughout the year to support our students: help keep them fueled up with coffee and bubbly water!
We are looking for 3-7 volunteers to pick up supplies from Trader Joes and drop them off in the staff lounge the first week of the month. This is a super easy way to make a positive difference at school.

Ongoing Needs
- IN THE GARDEN: Drop in (on the yard) Mondays 9:30 – 10:45 (Tues of Labor Day week) to help the garden coordinators with kids in the garden. Sign up here to help with Garden projects. Run a second day/week with kids in the garden (email the garden coordinators)
- IN THE CLASSROOM: Assist individual students or small groups with reading, math, or science activities (contact your student’s teacher about classroom opportunities)
- FUNDRAISING: Assist with flamingo flocking, the Spring auction, the walk/roll-a-thon or read-a-thon etc.! or come up with your own idea/event! (email pending! for now contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- SCHOOL WIDE EVENTS: Chaperone field trips, help with a holiday event or the Spring Concert, etc. (contact the Volunteer Coordinator)
- OTHER SKILLS NEEDED: Whatever else you have to offer!

Remember to get your volunteer badge either at the district office or during an upcoming Fingerprinting Party.
