PTA Message
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week has arrived at Harding, and we are so grateful for the incredible educators and staff of our school! Every day, Harding teachers (and the whole Harding team) create a learning community rooted in kindness, curiosity, courage, and perseverance while helping every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
What makes Harding so special is not only the care our teachers and staff show students, but also the deep commitment they show to one another and to continually improving their craft. For example, across grade-level teams, teachers collaborate closely to plan lessons, support student needs, and create consistency and connection for families. Faculty members regularly engage in peer observations and shared professional learning, opening their classrooms to colleagues in the spirit of growth, reflection, and teamwork. Many also dedicate personal time to off-site trainings, conferences, and professional development opportunities to bring fresh ideas and best practices back to our school community.
This year has also brought unique challenges, including navigating a district union strike with grace, professionalism, and care for students and families. Through uncertainty and change, Harding’s education team remained deeply committed to supporting children and maintaining the strong sense of community that makes our school so beloved.
This week, we’re celebrating our amazing staff with snacks and coffee in the staff lounge — and we’d love your help! Please take a moment to sign up using this link to contribute treats, beverages, or supplies and help us show our appreciation throughout the week.
We also encourage every family and classroom to find their own meaningful way to celebrate teachers and staff this week. A handwritten note, flowers from the garden, a class card, favorite snack, student artwork, or simple words of thanks can go a long way in reminding our educators how valued they are. Harding’s teachers and staff give so much to our children and community every single day, and Teacher Appreciation Week is a wonderful opportunity to show them some love in return!

Walk and Roll will be launching next year, and we’re looking for parent volunteers to help scan kids in on Wednesday mornings. Please sign up through this link if you’re interested. (We’ll coordinate a short training session over the summer.)

Volunteer Coordinator– This is an appointed position to help recruit and organize volunteers from the Harding community for PTA, classroom, and school needs.
Communications Team supports– The communications team needs translators, photographers, and someone to assist the communications chair on our weekly newsletter.

Our volunteer coordinator/s are hard at work coordinating with room parents, PTA committees, and Harding staff. Please reach out if you’ve got some time and energy to spare this year.
If you are interested in volunteering on campus or on study trips, please begin the process by visiting the District volunteer page: Volunteers. If you already have your district volunteer badge (nice work!) be sure to make an appointment with the teacher prior to volunteering in class. Always sign-in with the front office when volunteering. A visible volunteer badge must be worn at all times when on campus. Whenever on campus, remember to be mindful of student confidentiality.
New Section of the ENews: Committees, Committees…
We’re rolling out a new section of the PTA newsletter for Committee announcements and projects! For example, our newly established legislative committee is busy working on their goals, and priorities, and will begin sharing resources and participation opportunities soon.
This is where we’ll announce special committee presentations at upcoming general meetings too.

Eye of the Tiger: Insights into the halls & heart of Harding
Spotted on the dock of the bay: Harding fifth graders at the Berkeley Marina- wrapping up their science lessons on marine biology and local ecosystems. They searched for crabs, touched sea lettuce, identified skeleton shrimp, and had the classic experience of riding together on a school bus! (Which was loud for the parent volunteers, but also a blast to witness!)

Flip Academy: Afterschool Registration Now Open to Harding Students for the 2026/2027 School Year!
Afterschool University and IFlip Gymnastics are excited to announce a new partnership for our TK/Kinder – 5th grade Afterschool enrichment program. Looking for an active and engaging afterschool experience for your TK-5th grader? At Flip Academy your kiddo will bounce, build, brush, and bake (!) the afternoon blahs away, right here at iFlip!
With beginner-friendly gymnastics, hands-on STEM activities, art and cooking projects, homework help, and reading support, kids build confidence, skills, and friendships in a fun and supportive environment.Daily Transportation from Harding Elementary included! Our program is located inside IFlip’s new 21,000-square-foot state-of-the-art gymnastics complex at 2700 Rydin Rd, Richmond Annex (next to Costco).Registration for the 2026/2027 School YearRegistration is now open. Space is limited, and we highly recommend registering early to secure your spot.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE join the PTA! It’s very quick to do, and helps us reach our goal of at least 100 members! Joining does not mean you are committing to anything further!
All Are Welcome, No Specific Skills Required.
The PTA will meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month, unless alternative information is provided.
Community input and involvement are crucial to how the PTA works and the programs that we fund and provide to all students. Attending meetings and connecting to PTA communications on Slack, the weekly Enews newsletter, and Hardingpta.org will ensure that you are in the loop and your voice is heard!

Teacher Appreciation Week is here, and we are so grateful for the incredible educators and staff at Harding Elementary School! PTA および校長からのメッセージ
教師感謝週間が始まりました。ハーディング小学校の素晴らしい教育者と職員の皆さまに、心より感謝しています！毎日、ハーディングの先生方は、優しさ・好奇心・勇気・粘り強さを大切にした学びのコミュニティを築きながら、生徒一人ひとりの学力面、社会性、そして心の成長を支えています。
ハーディングが特別な学校である理由は、先生方が生徒たちに注ぐ思いやりだけではありません。先生同士がお互いを支え合い、教育者として成長し続けようとする強い姿勢にもあります。学年チームを超えて、先生方は授業計画や生徒支援について密に協力し合い、ご家庭にとっても一貫性とつながりのある環境づくりを行っています。また、職員同士で授業見学や共同研修を積極的に行い、成長・振り返り・チームワークの精神を大切にしながら学び合っています。さらに、多くの先生方が個人の時間を使って校外研修やカンファレンス、専門的な学習の機会に参加し、新しいアイデアや優れた実践方法を学校へ持ち帰ってくださっています。
今年度は、学区の教職員ストライキへの対応など、特別な困難にも直面しました。しかし、そのような不確実な状況の中でも、ハーディングの教育者たちは、常に生徒とご家庭を大切にしながら、学校コミュニティの強いつながりを守り続けてくださいました。
今週は、職員ラウンジで軽食やコーヒーを用意し、素晴らしい先生方と職員の皆さまをお祝いしています。そして、ぜひ皆さまにもご協力いただければ嬉しいです！リンクから、お菓子・飲み物・備品などのご提供にご協力いただき、今週を通して感謝の気持ちを届けるお手伝いをお願いいたします。
また、今週は各ご家庭やクラスごとに、それぞれの形で先生方や職員への感謝を表していただければと思います。手書きのお手紙、お庭のお花、クラス全員からのカード、好きなお菓子、生徒の作品、あるいはシンプルな「ありがとう」の言葉だけでも、教育者たちに「自分たちは大切にされている」と感じてもらえる大きな力になります。

ボランティア、備品の貸し出し、寄付など、ぜひご参加ください！
ボランティアコーディネーターが、すでにルームペアレントやPTA委員会、ハーディングのスタッフと連携して活動を始めています。今年、少しでも時間やエネルギーを分けていただける方は、ぜひご連絡ください。
校内や学習旅行でのボランティアに興味のある方は、まず地区のボランティアページ（Volunteers）から手続きを開始してください。すでに地区のボランティアバッジをお持ちの方（素晴らしいです！）は、教室で活動する前に必ず先生とアポイントを取ってください。
また、校内でボランティアをする際には、必ず事務室でサインインをし、ボランティアバッジを見えるように着用してください。加えて、校内にいる際には生徒のプライバシーに十分ご配慮をお願いします。
ハーディングの廊下と心からの便り
湾の桟橋で見かけた光景：ハーディング5年生がバークレー・マリーナで、海洋生物学と地域の生態系についての理科授業を締めくくりました。
カニを探したり、アオサ（シー・レタス）に触れたり、スケルトンシュリンプを観察したり、そしてみんなでスクールバスに乗るという“定番の学校体験”も楽しみました！
（保護者ボランティアにとっては少し騒がしかったですが、それも含めてとても楽しい思い出になりました！）

Flip Academy：2026/2027年度 放課後プログラム登録受付開始！
ハーディングの生徒も参加できます！
Afterschool University と IFlip Gymnastics は、TK／キンダー〜5年生向け放課後エンリッチメントプログラムにおける新しい提携を発表しました。
TK〜5年生のお子さん向けに、アクティブで楽しい放課後プログラムをお探しですか？
Flip Academy では、初心者向け体操、実践型STEMアクティビティ、アートやクッキングプロジェクト、宿題サポート、読書支援などを通して、子どもたちが楽しみながら自信・スキル・友情を育んでいきます！
さらに、ハーディング小学校からの毎日の送迎付きです。
プログラムは、Richmond Annex（Costco隣）の
2700 Rydin Rd にある、IFlip の最新21,000平方フィートの体操施設内で行われます。

ボランティアの機会は常にあり、私たちは楽しいグループです。特別なスキルは必要ありません。どなたでも歓迎です！
PTAは毎月の第1火曜日に会議を開催しますが、変更がある場合はお知らせします。
コミュニティからの意見や関与は、PTAの活動や資金提供するプログラムにとって重要です。会議に参加し、PTAのSlack、週刊Enewsニュースレター、Hardingpta.orgに接続することで、情報を把握し、あなたの声が届くようにしましょう！
