PTA Message
PTA Board Elections are coming up! We’ll be rolling out information about this in the coming weeks. But to start, here’s a full list of PTA positions with descriptions of each role. (Even if you’re not planning to run for a position, it’s nice to know the moving parts.)
PTA Board Positions
*General Term Length: Most board positions serve a two-year term, ensuring continuity and allowing for in-depth understanding of the role’s requirements.
*Collaboration Note: No position operates in a silo. Every board member is encouraged to seek assistance and delegate tasks to general volunteers and other parents as needed.
President (1-Year Term, max of 2) The President is the chief executive officer of the PTA, providing leadership and direction to the board and general membership.
Vice President (VP) (1-Year Term, max of 2) The VP serves as a key organizational leader and acts as an aide to the President.
Treasurer (1-Year Term, max of 2) The Treasurer is the custodian of the PTA funds and oversees all financial processes.
VP of Hospitality & Assemblies (1-Year Term, max of 2) This role focuses on creating a welcoming school environment and coordinating engaging student presentations.
VP of Fundraising (1-Year Term, max of 2) The VP of Fundraising is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring all efforts to generate revenue for the PTA budget.
Financial Secretary (1-Year Term, max of 2) The Financial Secretary works alongside the Treasurer to manage the intake and counting of funds.
Recording Secretary (1-Year Term, max of 2) The Recording Secretary keeps an accurate, concise, and permanent record of all PTA proceedings.
Auditor (1-Year Term, max of 2) The Auditor is responsible for conducting an internal review of the PTA’s financial records.
Communications Chair (Comm Chair) (1-Year Term, max of 2) The Communications Chair is responsible for ensuring the PTA’s activities and impact are effectively communicated to the school community.
Parliamentarian (1-Year Term, max of 2) The Parliamentarian advises the presiding officer on matters of parliamentary procedure and oversees the election process.
Programs Coordinator (2-Year Term) This role primarily handles the administrative and operational needs for the PTA’s ongoing contracted services and large-scale programs.
Room Parent Coordinator (2-Year Term) The Room Parent Coordinator manages the vital link between the PTA, teachers, and classroom families.
Library Chair (2-Year Term) The Library Chair supports the school’s library resources and promotes literacy.
Volunteer Chair (2-Year Term) The Volunteer Chair is dedicated to maximizing volunteer participation across the PTA.
Carnival Chair (2-Year Term) The Carnival Chair is responsible for leading Harding Carnival Planning and works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and volunteers/volunteer booth leaders to run this wonderful community event. The Carnival takes place in October each year. Planning generally takes place in the 3 months leading up to the event.
We are looking for 3-4 individuals who are part of the Harding PTA to serve as the nominating
committee to support our upcoming elections.

It’s a pink plastic midwinter miracle: the flamingos began their 5th Annual El Cerrito winter migration on February 3rd! Support the PTA by sending a flock flamingos to a friend’s front yard: A sliding scale donation will get birds perching for 48 hours in the location of your choice. Your donation supports enrichments like PE, the Garden Program, the Art Cart, field trips, assemblies, books, and more!

Our volunteer coordinator/s are hard at work coordinating with room parents, PTA committees, and Harding staff. Please reach out if you’ve got some time and energy to spare this year.
If you are interested in volunteering on campus or on study trips, please begin the process by visiting the District volunteer page: Volunteers. If you already have your district volunteer badge (nice work!) be sure to make an appointment with the teacher prior to volunteering in class. Always sign-in with the front office when volunteering. A visible volunteer badge must be worn at all times when on campus. Whenever on campus, remember to be mindful of student confidentiality.
Eye of the Tiger: Insights into the halls & heart of Harding
Spotted in the garden: Our PTA’s impact! We wanted to share some great news from Growing Together, the garden education program that partners with our school.
Across West Contra Costa schools, Growing Together has shown powerful impact:
- 96% of students reported increased interest in healthy eating and living
- 81% of parents said their child is more engaged in school because of the garden program
- 83% of parents reported a positive impact on their child’s health and wellness
Educators consistently highlight how garden class supports science learning, curiosity, social-emotional growth, and student engagement — especially for students who may struggle in traditional classroom settings.
We’re grateful to Growing Together for bringing hands-on science, nutrition, and outdoor learning to our campus and helping create meaningful learning experiences for our students. See the full report here.

Cargos de la Junta de la PTA
Duración General del Mandato:

PTA および校長からのメッセージ
PTA 理事会選挙が近づいています！今後数週間にわたり、詳細な情報を順次ご案内する予定です。まずは、PTA の各役職とその役割についての一覧をご紹介します。（立候補を予定していない方にとっても、全体の仕組みを知る良い機会です。）
PTA 理事会 役職説明
任期について：
理事会のほとんどの役職は 2 年任期で、継続性を確保し、役割の理解を深めることを目的としています。
協力に関する注意事項：
どの役職も単独で業務を行うものではありません。すべての理事は、必要に応じて一般ボランティアや他の保護者に協力を求め、業務を分担することが推奨されています。
会長（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
会長は PTA の最高責任者として、理事会および会員全体にリーダーシップと方向性を示します。
副会長（VP）（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
副会長は重要な組織リーダーとして会長を補佐します。
会計（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
会計は PTA の資金を管理し、すべての財務プロセスを監督します。
接遇・集会担当副会長（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
この役職は、学校環境をより歓迎的なものにし、生徒向け集会を企画・運営することに重点を置いています。
資金調達担当副会長（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
資金調達担当副会長は、PTA 予算のための収益創出活動全般を計画・実行・管理します。
財務書記（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
財務書記は会計と連携し、資金の受領および集計を担当します。
議事録書記（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
議事録書記は、PTA のすべての会議内容を正確かつ簡潔に記録します。
監査役（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
監査役は PTA の財務記録について内部監査を行います。
広報担当（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
広報担当は、PTA の活動や成果を学校コミュニティに効果的に伝える役割を担います。
議事規則担当（1 年任期、最大 2 期）
議事規則担当は、会議運営における手続き面で助言を行い、選挙プロセスを監督します。
プログラム・コーディネーター（2 年任期）
この役職は、PTA が契約している継続的なサービスや大規模プログラムの管理業務を主に担当します。
学級保護者コーディネーター（2 年任期）
学級保護者コーディネーターは、PTA・教師・各クラスの家庭をつなぐ重要な役割を担います。
図書館担当（2 年任期）
図書館担当は、学校図書館の充実と読書推進を支援します。
ボランティア担当（2 年任期）
ボランティア担当は、PTA 全体のボランティア参加を最大化することを目的としています。
カーニバル担当（2 年任期）
カーニバル担当は Harding カーニバルの企画全体を統括し、ボランティア担当および各ブース責任者と連携してイベントを成功に導きます。カーニバルは毎年 10 月に開催され、準備は通常、開催前の約 3 か月間に行われます。
We are looking for 3-4 individuals who are part of the Harding PTA to serve as the nominating
committee to support our upcoming elections.
If you are interested in serving on this vital committee responsible for electing our open
positions, please fill out this interest form. Participation on this committee likely includes a few
30-45 minute meetings to discuss candidates and share the nominations with the broader
community.

It’s a pink plastic midwinter miracle: the flamingos began their 5th Annual El Cerrito winter migration on February 3rd! Support the PTA by sending a flock flamingos to a friend’s front yard: A sliding scale donation will get birds perching for 48 hours in the location of your choice. Your donation supports enrichments like PE, the Garden Program, the Art Cart, field trips, assemblies, books, and more!

2026/27年度の新学年（もう6年生／7年生への進級に備える時期ですね？！）が、あっという間に近づいてきました。これからも生徒たちを支え続けるためには、強く、積極的に関わるPTAが必要です。
私たちはあなたの力を必要としています！
そして、あなたのお友だちの力も！
新しい役割の募集・選出・引き継ぎ・トレーニングを始める時期に入っています。
執行部メンバー、各種委員会、ボランティアのサブグループなど、PTAは常にメンバーが入れ替わりながら成り立つ組織です。現在のPTAメンバーの多くが、規約で定められた任期の終了を迎えるか、お子さんの卒業が近づいています。
今は、見学（シャドーイング）をしたり、役割について学んだりするのに最適なタイミングです。
ご興味のある方、または「この人なら合いそう！」という方をご存じでしたら、ぜひご紹介ください。皆さんからのご連絡をお待ちしています！
FYI: Our Recess Coach, Brittni, will not be able to continue in that role next year. So, we’re looking for someone to take it on next! This is a paid, part-time position that would be ideal for a Harding adult who already volunteers around the lunch/recess time period. If interested, please reach out!

ボランティアコーディネーターが、すでにルームペアレントやPTA委員会、ハーディングのスタッフと連携して活動を始めています。今年、少しでも時間やエネルギーを分けていただける方は、ぜひご連絡ください。
校内や学習旅行でのボランティアに興味のある方は、まず地区のボランティアページ（Volunteers）から手続きを開始してください。すでに地区のボランティアバッジをお持ちの方（素晴らしいです！）は、教室で活動する前に必ず先生とアポイントを取ってください。
また、校内でボランティアをする際には、必ず事務室でサインインをし、ボランティアバッジを見えるように着用してください。加えて、校内にいる際には生徒のプライバシーに十分ご配慮をお願いします。

Spotted in the garden: Our PTA’s impact! We wanted to share some great news from Growing Together, the garden education program that partners with our school.
Across West Contra Costa schools, Growing Together has shown powerful impact:
- 96% of students reported increased interest in healthy eating and living
- 81% of parents said their child is more engaged in school because of the garden program
- 83% of parents reported a positive impact on their child’s health and wellness
Educators consistently highlight how garden class supports science learning, curiosity, social-emotional growth, and student engagement — especially for students who may struggle in traditional classroom settings.
We’re grateful to Growing Together for bringing hands-on science, nutrition, and outdoor learning to our campus and helping create meaningful learning experiences for our students. See the full report here.
