PTA Message
Checking in on the current UTR/WCCUSD Impasse: For full details of the unfolding negotiation, please refer to last week’s ENews. (Still posted and available to read on our website: hardingpta.org ) They are now in the final stage of the statutory impasse procedures – the last step before UTR and the Teamsters are legally authorized to strike if an agreement is not reached. Things still look to be heading towards a strike post-thanksgiving break. The district is communicating their statements via Parent Square and posting updates to their website here. Tomorrow night (Thursday, 11/20 6pm) the union will hold a townhall- to answer questions from the community. (See flyer below on the Community Bulletin Board.)
Our Harding UTR team has created and will disseminate a “What to do when your teachers go on strike” plan for families asap. The Harding PTA is not involved in these negotiations, but will continue to keep the community informed with details and updates as we receive them.

Our volunteer coordinator/s are hard at work coordinating with room parents, PTA committees, and Harding staff. Please reach out if you’ve got some time and energy to spare this year.
If you are interested in volunteering on campus or on study trips, please begin the process by visiting the District volunteer page: Volunteers. If you already have your district volunteer badge (nice work!) be sure to make an appointment with the teacher prior to volunteering in class. Always sign-in with the front office when volunteering. A visible volunteer badge must be worn at all times when on campus. Whenever on campus, remember to be mindful of student confidentiality.
Eye of the Tiger: Insights into the halls & heart of Harding
Spotted walking to school last week: A parade of purple! Students and families walked to school to commemorate Ruby Bridges Day, celebrating that we all get to learn together. Ask your student if they read a book about Ruby last week. And be sure to check out the artwork in the windows!

As you may be aware, the ongoing government shutdown may interrupt essential benefits, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food assistance, which will impact some of our families. In light of this, our PTA is calling on our local community to support our neighbors who are potentially facing a food-security crisis. If you’re able, please consider donating directly to our local food bank in the WCCUSD region: Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. (*Direct cash donations to food banks are the most impactful way to give, as food banks are able to purchase food in volume, but donations of non-perishable food are also welcome.) If your family is experiencing food insecurity, the link will direct you to reliable food banks in our area.

ボランティアコーディネーターが、すでにルームペアレントやPTA委員会、ハーディングのスタッフと連携して活動を始めています。今年、少しでも時間やエネルギーを分けていただける方は、ぜひご連絡ください。
校内や学習旅行でのボランティアに興味のある方は、まず地区のボランティアページ（Volunteers）から手続きを開始してください。すでに地区のボランティアバッジをお持ちの方（素晴らしいです！）は、教室で活動する前に必ず先生とアポイントを取ってください。
また、校内でボランティアをする際には、必ず事務室でサインインをし、ボランティアバッジを見えるように着用してください。加えて、校内にいる際には生徒のプライバシーに十分ご配慮をお願いします。

ご存じの方もいらっしゃると思いますが、現在進行中の政府閉鎖により、**補助的栄養支援プログラム（SNAP）**などの重要な給付が一時的に停止する可能性があります。これにより、一部のご家庭に影響が出ることが懸念されています。
この状況を受けて、PTAは地域コミュニティの皆さまに、食の不安定な状況に直面しているご家庭を支援するご協力を呼びかけています。
可能であれば、WCCUSD地域にあるFood Bank of Contra Costa and Solano（コントラコスタ＆ソラノ郡フードバンク）への寄付をご検討ください。
（※フードバンクへの現金寄付が最も効果的な支援方法です。大量購入によりより多くの食料を提供できますが、保存食品の寄付も歓迎されています。）
もしご家庭が食料支援を必要としている場合も、上記リンクから地域の信頼できるフードバンク情報をご覧いただけます。

ボランティアの機会は常にあり、私たちは楽しいグループです。特別なスキルは必要ありません。どなたでも歓迎です！
PTAは毎月の第1火曜日に会議を開催しますが、変更がある場合はお知らせします。
コミュニティからの意見や関与は、PTAの活動や資金提供するプログラムにとって重要です。会議に参加し、PTAのSlack、週刊Enewsニュースレター、Hardingpta.orgに接続することで、情報を把握し、あなたの声が届くようにしましょう！
