PTA Message
Dear Harding Families,
As you may know, the WCCUSD and UTR are currently in the fact-finding stage of contract negotiations. The Harding PTA respects the important work of both our teachers and district leaders, and we recognize how deeply families care about maintaining stability for our students.
Our PTA’s mission remains the same: to support every child with a strong, safe, and positive educational experience. We do not take sides in contract matters, but we do advocate for resolution through open communication and mutual respect.
As a nonprofit parent organization, the PTA:
- Will stay neutral in the labor process.
- Will focus on student wellbeing and family support if a strike or work stoppage occurs.
- Will keep families informed with factual, nonpartisan updates and resources.
We encourage everyone to remain respectful and unified as a school community. You can expect further updates from us if there are changes that affect daily schedules or student services.

Here’s a great example of an upcoming volunteer need: The family who runs the lemonade stand at our Carnival is a fifth grade family who’s last child will graduate next year. So, they need to hand this off to another family! They have perfected the process over the years and will help you with the transition. (Next year you could even shadow them through it!) It’s an annual, one-time task that is greatly appreciated. And fun! So, it’s great for someone looking for a well defined, seasonal volunteer opportunity. If interested, please reach out to the carnival folks (harding.carnival@hardingpta.org) or communications and we’ll make the connection!
Our volunteer coordinator/s are hard at work coordinating with room parents, PTA committees, and Harding staff. Please reach out if you’ve got some time and energy to spare this year.
If you are interested in volunteering on campus or on study trips, please begin the process by visiting the District volunteer page: Volunteers. If you already have your district volunteer badge (nice work!) be sure to make an appointment with the teacher prior to volunteering in class. Always sign-in with the front office when volunteering. A visible volunteer badge must be worn at all times when on campus. Whenever on campus, remember to be mindful of student confidentiality.
Eye of the Tiger: Insights into the halls & heart of Harding
Spotted at the Carnival: A vibrant, cooperative community coming together! We heard from neighbors who came out to say they look forward to this every year. We heard TK and Kinder families say they felt a sense of belonging already. We heard fifth and sixth graders promising to return and volunteer for shifts. We heard parents and students and teachers and staff and neighbors… laughing. Some friends from Fairmont came over to show support. (Check out their upcoming Carnival- and let’s reshare that love.) And the mini-mosh pit/dance party at the end? Yes!
It was a beautiful, Harding Tiger kind of day. (*Did you know- studies show a direct correlation with a students sense of community and their learning experience/outcomes? So, way to go, community! It matters!)

The PTA will meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month, unless alternative information is provided.
Community input and involvement are crucial to how the PTA works and the programs that we fund and provide to all students. Attending meetings and connecting to PTA communications on Slack, the weekly Enews newsletter, and Hardingpta.org will ensure that you are in the loop and your voice is heard!

PTA および校長からのメッセージ
親愛なるハーディング校のご家族の皆さまへ
ご存知の方もいらっしゃるかもしれませんが、現在WCCUSD（ウェスト・コンストラ・コスタ統一学区）とUTR（教師組合）は、契約交渉の事実調査段階にあります。ハーディングPTAは、教師と学区の指導者の皆さんの重要な働きを尊重しており、生徒たちの安定した学習環境を守りたいというご家族の強い思いを理解しています。
PTAの使命は変わりません。それは、すべての子どもたちに強く、安全で、前向きな教育経験を提供することです。私たちは契約交渉においてどちらかの立場に立つことはありませんが、対話と相互尊重を通じた解決を強く望んでいます。
PTAは非営利の保護者団体として、次のことをお約束します：
- 労使交渉において中立の立場を維持します
- ストライキや業務停止が発生した場合でも、生徒の福祉とご家庭のサポートに注力します

今後のボランティア募集の素晴らしい例をご紹介します：
毎年恒例のカーニバルでレモネードスタンドを担当しているご家族は、現在5年生のご家庭で、来年そのお子さんが卒業される予定です。そこで、この役割を次に引き継いでくださるご家庭を探しています！
このご家族は何年にもわたって運営を工夫し、完璧なやり方を築き上げてきました。引き継ぎも丁寧にサポートしてくださいます。（来年は一緒に付き添って学ぶことも可能です！）
この役割は、年に一度だけのシンプルなタスクで、とても感謝されるものです。そして、何より楽しい！明確な役割で、季節限定のボランティア機会を探している方にはぴったりです。
ご興味のある方は、カーニバル担当（harding.carnival@hardingpta.org）またはコミュニケーション担当までご連絡ください。担当の方とおつなぎします！
文調は親しみやすく、学校コミュニティ向けに自然な形にしていますが、ご希望があればフォーマルな調整も可能です
ボランティアコーディネーターが、すでにルームペアレントやPTA委員会、ハーディングのスタッフと連携して活動を始めています。今年、少しでも時間やエネルギーを分けていただける方は、ぜひご連絡ください。
校内や学習旅行でのボランティアに興味のある方は、まず地区のボランティアページ（Volunteers）から手続きを開始してください。すでに地区のボランティアバッジをお持ちの方（素晴らしいです！）は、教室で活動する前に必ず先生とアポイントを取ってください。
また、校内でボランティアをする際には、必ず事務室でサインインをし、ボランティアバッジを見えるように着用してください。加えて、校内にいる際には生徒のプライバシーに十分ご配慮をお願いします。

にぎやかで協力的なコミュニティが一つに！
毎年このイベントを楽しみにしているというご近所の方々の声を聞きました。
TK（年少組）やキンダー（幼稚園）のご家族からは、すでに「ここに居場所がある」と感じたという声も。
5年生・6年生の子どもたちは、「来年はボランティアとして戻ってくる！」と約束してくれました。
保護者も、生徒も、先生も、スタッフも、ご近所の方々も… みんなの笑い声があちこちから聞こえてきました。
フェアモント校のお友達も応援に駆けつけてくれました！

ボランティアの機会は常にあり、私たちは楽しいグループです。特別なスキルは必要ありません。どなたでも歓迎です！
PTAは毎月の第1火曜日に会議を開催しますが、変更がある場合はお知らせします。
コミュニティからの意見や関与は、PTAの活動や資金提供するプログラムにとって重要です。会議に参加し、PTAのSlack、週刊Enewsニュースレター、Hardingpta.orgに接続することで、情報を把握し、あなたの声が届くようにしましょう！

※すべての全体会議で現地にて託児サービスを提供します。
