Local artist/El Cerrito parent, Kristen Kong, will be painting our next mural the weekend of May 10th and 11th. She invites the community to come out to help and hang if you’d like… so stay tuned for details in next week’s newsletter!

Current needs:
- Our annual International Potluck is scheduled for May 3rd, after the Poetry Fest! And we’re looking for a volunteer to help oversee it. (If interested, please contact the volunteer coordinator- see below.)
Ongoing needs:
- Lunch recess support/presence – sign up here. Our goal is 4 days a year per family. Having extra adult presence on the yard helps students and staff!
- Fundraisers: these happen all year long! email the fundraising chair if you’d like to pitch in

Harding families –
It’s time to stand up and show our support for our amazing teachers and our school! You may have heard that school communities in WCCUSD are picketing (not striking) before and after school over the next few weeks. These gatherings are in support of our teachers, as they negotiate contracts. This picket/rally (UTR language) is part of an awareness campaign to alert the community to the issues described below. It is not a teachers strike, and will occur outside of instructional hours. We are using this opportunity to show our solidarity and as a time to engage as a community.
Why?
Right now, our teachers are fighting for safe, stable, and fully staffed schools — and for the resources they need to give our kids the education they deserve. They are advocating for smaller class sizes, better learning conditions, and fair pay to attract and retain great educators.
When we show up, we send a clear message that our whole community stands behind them — and that strong public schools are a priority for all of us.
Here’s how you can help:
Picketing at Harding and El Cerrito High
- Friday, May 2nd
- 8:10–8:30 AM and 2:40–3:10 PM at Harding gates/sidewalk
- 3:30–4:00 PM at El Cerrito High
Bring your energy! Walk, chant, take photos, post on social media (#StudentSuccess #WhyWeShowUp #WeAreUTR), or just be there to show strength in numbers.

Spotted at the Lumber Baron: Harding grown ups having a groovy good time for a truly good cause. Fundraisers like this support so many things around campus: fieldtrips, classroom supplies, school assemblies and community socials, the garden program, our PE and recess coach… even the platforms we use for communications like the ENews!

The PTA will meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month, unless alternative information is provided.

現在の募集:
- また、毎年恒例のインターナショナル・ポットラックは5月3日、ポエトリーフェスの後に開催予定です！このイベントの運営を手伝ってくださるボランティアを募集しています。（ご興味のある方は、下記のボランティアコーディネーターまでご連絡ください。）
継続的な募集:
- ランチ休憩サポート/立会い: こちらから登録できます。各家庭で年間4日を目指しています。校庭に大人が増えることで、生徒やスタッフの助けになります！
- ファンドレイザー: 年間を通じて様々なイベントを行っています。参加をご希望の方はファンドレイジング担当者までメールしてください。

📣 今こそ立ち上がり、先生方と学校を応援する時です！
最近、WCCUSD（西コントラコスタ学区）内の学校コミュニティが、授業時間外にピケティング（抗議活動）を行っています。これはストライキではなく、教師たちの契約交渉をサポートするためのアクションです。
💬 なぜ今？
先生たちは今、安全で安定した教育環境、十分なスタッフ配置、そして質の高い教育を提供するためのリソースを求めて交渉中です。具体的には以下のような改善を目指しています：
- クラスの人数削減
- 学びやすい環境の確保
- 優秀な教師を引きつけ、長く勤めてもらうための適正な賃金
私たちが行動することで、「地域全体が先生たちを支えている」という強いメッセージを送ることができます！

- 3:30～4:00PM：El Cerrito高校

サンフランシスコでの「学校を守ろう」ラリー

→ ベイエリア全体の教育関係者と家族が一堂に会する大規模な集会です。子どもと一緒にご参加大歓迎！

Spotted at The Lumber Baron: Hardingの保護者たちがグルービーで素敵な夜を満喫！
先日のオークション＆ソーシャルイベントでは、Hardingの大人たちが集まり、笑顔と音楽あふれるひとときを過ごしました✨ でもこれはただの楽しい夜ではありません——本当に意義ある目的のためのファンドレイザーだったのです！
このようなイベントを通して集まった資金は、以下のような多くの場面で活用されています：フィールドトリップ（校外学習）、教室の備品、学校集会や特別プログラム、ガーデンプログラム、PEや休み時間を見守るコーチ、ENewsなど、保護者と学校をつなぐ情報配信プラットフォーム
保護者、ボランティア、スタッフの皆さん——あなたのサポートが Harding をより良い場所にしています！本当にありがとうございます！
次回のイベントもお楽しみに！参加することが、子どもたちの笑顔につながります🌱
