The BOOK FAIR is on at Mr.Mopps’… March 10th – 16th!!! (*See below flyer for details)
This week, between March 10-16th, Harding is partnering with Mr.
Mopps’ Children’s Books in North Berkeley to bring a fantastic
opportunity for students to explore new books, discover exciting
stories, and find the perfect reads to enjoy at home.
This is also an amazing chance to help Harding teachers with their
wish lists of books they’d loved to have at their classroom library –
visit the link below for suggested reading and teacher wish lists!
Here’s how you can participate:
Visit our online Book Fair link:

OR visit Mr. Mopps’ located at 1401 Martin Luther King Jr Way,
Berkeley, CA 94709 and shop in-store!
– Browse and shop for a variety of books, including recommendations
tailored for your child’s grade level listed on your student Book Fair
flyer. If you’re looking for a particular title for your home library,
even if it’s not a kid’s book, use the search function and if Mr.
Mopps’ can get it for you, they will!
– 20% of all book purchases made in-store or online at Mr. Mopps’ will
go toward supporting Harding enrichment programs!
– Choose shipping options at checkout: book orders could be picked at
Mr. Mopps’ when they are ready, OR delivered to students and teachers
at school by library staff after March 16th. If you’d like to have the
books you buy delivered to Harding, put your regular address at
checkout, BUT for shipping, select the option “Free shipping to
Harding.” Your books will be delivered directly to your students,
making it easy and convenient.

Librarian Read-Aloud, their favorite books at Mr. Mopps’ on the

– Fat Apples Berkeley (across the street from Mr. Mopps’) will donate
up to 8 pizzas and sell half-slices for $2.00, with 100% of the
proceeds from those sales going to Harding PTA.
– In addition to that, 20% of any orders of whole pizzas during the
weekend of March 15 & March 16 at both Berkeley and El Cerrito Fat
Apples with the code: FATAPPLESMopps20, will be donated to Harding
PTA.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support our school and a Harding
family-owned local business while fostering a love of reading in our
students, so let’s enjoy some great books, readings and pizza at our
lovely Book Fair this weekend.

Current needs:
- We need to choose a couple new board members for the PTA next year! If you’d like to help us by joining the nominating committee, please contact Jason Mickela, our current Parliamentarian, at parliamentarian@hardingpta.org
- Our annual International Potluck is scheduled for May 3rd, after the Poetry Fest! And we’re looking for a volunteer to help oversee it. (If interested, please contact the volunteer coordinator- see below.)
Ongoing needs:
- Lunch recess support/presence – sign up here. Our goal is 4 days a year per family. Having extra adult presence on the yard helps students and staff!
- Fundraisers: these happen all year long! email the fundraising chair if you’d like to pitch in

A community event to go along with the poetry work our students are doing with Tess Taylor!

The EC/RA Walk and Roll is hosting a bike/public transit event in April and there is a great workshop available for kids and their families.
Join Bike East Bay at our Family Cycling Workshop at the GO GREEN! Mobility Fair at El Cerrito Plaza BART (north parking lot, corner of Richmond Street and Central Avenue) on Saturday, April 26. The workshop is 10:30 am to noon, then visit the fair!
The workshop is free, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Click here to sign up.
This workshop is for kids who are able to ride a bike and are ready to take to the paths and roadways with their parents (suggested grade range 2nd to 6th). The event includes instruction on:
- fitting a helmet
- performing a bike safety check
- communicating with other road users
- riding in a straight line and avoiding obstacles
- as well as navigating safely through intersections, all while playing fun games!
All minors must be accompanied by an adult to participate, both with their own working bikes and helmets.
If the class is full, you can be added to the wait list or be notified about future sessions as they are added.

Insights into the halls and heart of Harding…
Spotted on the Kinder-Exterior Wall of Ashbury: The dream of a mural soon-to-be!!! We are so stoked to announce that our collaboration with local artist/fellow El Cerrito parent, Kristen Kong, has been approved! Work on the mural will begin asap… So stay tuned for details- because we may make it a community event one weekend for those who’d like to help.

今週、3月10日～16日 の間、Hardingは北バークレーの Mr. Mopps’ Children’s Books と提携し、生徒たちが新しい本を探索し、わくわくする物語を発見し、自宅で楽しめるお気に入りの一冊を見つける素晴らしい機会を提供します。
また、Hardingの先生たちが クラスの図書コーナーに加えたい本のウィッシュリスト を支援する絶好のチャンスでもあります！

- お子さまの学年に合わせたおすすめの本が記載された Book Fairチラシ を参考に、本を選んで購入できます。
- ご家庭用の本を探している場合、検索機能を使えば、取り寄せ可能かどうかも確認できます。
- 店頭・オンラインのすべての本の購入額の20％がHardingの教育支援プログラムに寄付されます！
- 配送オプション：
- 注文した本は Mr. Mopps’で受け取り 可能
- 3月16日以降に学校で生徒や先生に配達（チェックアウト時に「Free shipping to Harding」を選択すると、学校に直接届きます。）

STEAMナイトは、子どもたちが楽しめる小さなサイエンスフェアのブースがたくさん並ぶ素晴らしいイベントです。以下のような形で協力していただける方を募集しています。
- ブースの運営
- 他の方のための材料や道具の準備
- イベント運営のサポート

最初にすること:
地区のボランティア承認を取得してください（手順はこちらをご覧ください）。
現在の募集:
- 来年度のPTAの新しい役員を数名選出する必要があります！候補者選考委員会に参加してお手伝いいただける方は、現在の議会担当であるジェイソン・ミケラ（parliamentarian@hardingpta.org）までご連絡ください。
- また、毎年恒例のインターナショナル・ポットラックは5月3日、ポエトリーフェスの後に開催予定です！このイベントの運営を手伝ってくださるボランティアを募集しています。（ご興味のある方は、下記のボランティアコーディネーターまでご連絡ください。）
継続的な募集:
- ランチ休憩サポート/立会い: こちらから登録できます。各家庭で年間4日を目指しています。校庭に大人が増えることで、生徒やスタッフの助けになります！
- ファンドレイザー: 年間を通じて様々なイベントを行っています。参加をご希望の方はファンドレイジング担当者までメールしてください。

ご存じの方もいるかもしれませんが、ハーディング小学校の6年生は毎年恒例のキャンプ旅行に出かけます… これは彼らが何年も楽しみにしている大切な伝統です。みんなで協力して、彼らを送り出しましょう！

EC/RAウォーク＆ロールは、4月に自転車と公共交通に関するイベントを開催し、子どもとその家族向けの素晴らしいワークショップも用意されています。
Bike East Bay ファミリーサイクリングワークショップ
GO GREEN! モビリティフェア
場所：El Cerrito Plaza BART（北駐車場、Richmond StreetとCentral Avenueの角）
日時：4月26日（土） 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
ワークショップは無料ですが、事前登録が必要 です。こちら からお申し込みください。
このワークショップは、自転車に乗ることができ、保護者と一緒に道路を走る準備ができたお子さん向け（対象：2年生～6年生）です。
イベント内容：
- ヘルメットの正しい着用方法
- 自転車の安全点検
- 他の道路利用者とのコミュニケーション
- まっすぐ走る＆障害物を避ける練習
- 交差点の安全な通行方法
すべてのアクティビティは楽しいゲームを交えながら行います！
参加条件：
未成年者は必ず保護者同伴 で参加してください。保護者・お子さん共に動作する自転車とヘルメットが必要です。

～ハーディングの廊下と心の中の洞察～
アシュバリー通り沿いの幼稚園外壁に、もうすぐ完成する夢の壁画が！私たちの地元アーティストであり、エルセリート在住の保護者でもあるクリステン・コングさんとのコラボレーションが正式に承認されました！ 壁画の制作はできるだけ早く開始される予定です… 詳細は随時お知らせしますのでお楽しみに。週末にコミュニティイベントとして、希望者が参加できる機会を設けるかもしれません！
