Fundraising
SAVE THE DATE!
The Spring Social & Auction, April 26th, 2025. 5-9pm.
We’ve set a date! The annual Spring Social & Auction will be the evening of Saturday April 26th. We’re so grateful for your support as we continue to grow this event. This year, we hope to expand our catalog of items, so stay tuned for details on how to get involved!
Volunteer Opportunities
First: obtain district clearance to volunteer (instructions here)
Current needs:
- Flamingo flocking and spring auction donation solicitation! If you’re interested in helping with either, please email the volunteer coordinator (see below)
Ongoing needs:
- Lunch recess support/presence – sign up here. Our goal is 4 days a year per family. Having extra adult presence on the yard helps students and staff!
- Fundraisers: these happen all year long! email the fundraising chair if you’d like to pitch in

Community Bulletin Board
For soon-to-be-Korematsu families: The Korematsu Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is having their elections for PTSA president, executive vice president, vice president of fundraising, secretary, and treasurer in March 2025. These positions will take over for school year 2025-2026.
Current incumbents will move up to El Cerrito High School.
Korematsu PTSA is less of a time commitment than what is typical at the elementary school level. During the school year, it takes about one hour a week for the busiest position.
The PTSA supports Principal Matt Burnham, the music committee (they use the PTSA charitable tax ID), sex education, eight grade promotion, staff appreciation luncheons, classroom supplies, dances, sports, and many other programs.
This is a great way to stay involved at critical phase of your students’ adolescence. Classroom parent volunteers are no longer needed so this is an important way to stay involved and informed. PTSA board members are the best informed members of the Korematsu community and have influence in a myriad of areas at the school.

Introducing Coach Jody: We are excited to welcome Jody Slendebroek as our new PE coach! Jody comes to us with a wealth of experience and a passion for education. She holds both a BCBA and an M.Ed. degree, and has been an active member of our PTA for years. As a parent of three children at our school, Jody brings a unique perspective and a deep commitment to our community. We’re thrilled to have her join our team and look forward to the positive energy and expertise she will bring to our PE program!

The PTA will meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month, unless alternative information is provided.
Community input and involvement are crucial to how the PTA works and the programs that we fund and provide to all students. Attending meetings and connecting to PTA communications on Slack, the weekly Enews newsletter, and Hardingpta.org will ensure that you are in the loop and your voice is heard!

Recaudación de fondos:

Para las familias que pronto se convertirán en Korematsu: La Asociación de Padres, Maestros y Estudiantes de Korematsu (PTSA, por sus siglas en inglés) tendrá sus elecciones para presidente, vicepresidente ejecutivo, vicepresidente de recaudación de fondos, secretario y tesorero de la PTSA en marzo de 2025. Estos cargos asumirán el cargo para el año escolar 2025-2026.

近い将来コレマツに進学されるご家族へ
コレマツ中学校のPTSA（親・教師・生徒協会）は、2025年3月に次の役職の選挙を行います：
- PTSA会長
- 副会長
- 資金調達担当副会長
- 書記
- 会計
これらの役職は2025-2026年度の学期から引き継がれます。現在の役職者はエルセリート高校に進学する予定です。
PTSAに参加するメリット
コレマツ中学校のPTSAは、小学校での役員活動と比べて時間的な負担が少なく、最も忙しい役職でも週に1時間程度の活動が必要なだけです。PTSAは以下のようなプログラムをサポートしています：

私たちは、新しいPEコーチとしてジョディ・スレンデブロークさんを迎えることを大変楽しみにしています！ジョディさんは豊富な経験と教育への情熱を持つ方です。BCBA（行動分析認定資格）とM.Ed.（教育学修士）を取得しており、長年PTAの活発なメンバーとして活動してきました。
さらに、学校に通う3人のお子さんの親として、コミュニティに対する深い理解と献身を持っています。ジョディさんが私たちのチームに加わることで、PEプログラムに新しいエネルギーと専門性がもたらされることをとても楽しみにしています！
