A Note from Principal Takimoto:
Hello Harding Community,
It’s after labor day and the school year is officially well underway. Our goal with adding things into the instructional day (social skills teaching and practice, library visits, band, PLAYWORKS games and games time, etc) in addition to the academic curriculum is to develop well rounded humans.
For some students, the so-called soft skills can be challenging and, post shelter-in-place, most children need explicit instruction and lots of practice with all things related to being part of a community and following the shared community routines and procedures.
The teachers and I have started early outreach to work with families of students who need specific support not just with academics but also with social skills.
Lack of ability to manage and navigate social situations, from partner work to seeing yourself as a classroom community contributing member, can be a barrier to teaching and learning.
Working as a team member with your child’s teacher on shared student growth goals is the most powerful way to affect positive change and a positive school experience for your child.
Please reach out to your teacher, email or parentsquare message, any time you have a question, concern or maybe just a compliment; telling the teacher what is going well can be most helpful 🙂
Harding families have always been active participants in their students’ career here and we look forward to continuing the work with you.

Giving Campaign Update
We are nearly 10% to our goal of 50% participation and $38,000, with 20 days left to go! Let’s get up to 35% this week: all contributions go directly towards funding enrichment programs at Harding that our students would otherwise not receive, like Seele Stars performing arts, our Playworks PE coach, the Art Cart, field trips, assemblies and more.

Hola comunidad Harding,
Es después del día del trabajo y el año escolar está oficialmente en marcha.
