Hello Harding Community,
Many thanks for the continued patience, flexibility, and support. As the rain, so desperately needed, adds another layer of challenge to understaffed schools, I continue to be thankful for the Harding community.
- Even though there was a district failure of communication last Wednesday, the early arrival of many staff members and community cooperation prevented a bigger mess.
- Parent volunteers at recess and lunch are increasing. The parents on site last week rolled with new rainy day procedures and stepped in to assist with student management and supervision with grace and good humor.
Our main challenge remains under-staffing due to budget cuts and open Positions. Please consider helping by applying or sharing our current openings: Lunch/recess supervisors, instructional support aides (paraprofessional III), head custodian, site secretary (starting January 3), and 6th grade math/science long term sub (starting January 3). All positions except for lunch/recess supervisors are a full instructional day or more; yard supervisors are 2-3 hours daily. Please spread the word to anyone you know that works in or is interested in education. Harding is a great place to work with dedicated and collaborative educators.
If you haven’t already, please make an appointment to conference with your child’s teacher. All day Monday November 1 and November 2-8 after the 2:05pm minimum day dismissal, teachers will host conferences to discuss academic and social accomplishment and need. Collaboration with teachers is key for student success.
Take care and stay safe.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Takimoto
