Hello Harding Community,

SAFETY FOCUS THIS WEEK:

  1. From the District: The health and safety of the Harding community is our top priority. To help everyone stay healthy and safe during the Covid-19 pandemic, we have updated our Covid-19 testing protocols.  We have changed Covid-19 testing companies to one that can provide more timely test results.  To accommodate the change, we need everyone to complete the ONE-TIME testing registration form. The form can be found on our website at LINK HERE.  Harding testing continues to be on Mondays.  Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility. Please continue to follow all the Covid-19 protocols and get the vaccine if you are eligible.
  2. Children came back to the school setting behind developmentally in all Social Emotional Competency Areas.  In the larger social setting of school we can clearly see the deficits in self awareness and self management that are playing out in a lot of physical behaviors – grabbing, pushing, pulling, accidental and purposeful hitting.  We will be focusing our direct instruction for the first trimester and teachers will be noting your child’s development in these areas at parent/teacher conferences.  You can support your child and our teaching efforts by checking in with your child regularly on how they kept their hands to themselves, use their words when they needed/wanted something, and/or what strategies they used to manage their emotions.
  3. Please remember Safety First during drop-off/pick-up at Harding on Fairmount, Ashbury, and other surrounding streets. Only use the crosswalks to cross the streets and wait for the light to signal it is safe to cross. And, of course, always look both ways before crossing. Also, please do not stand in the street while waiting for your kids to come out of school. This is a great time to remind kids about street safety and model safe behavior.  Interested in being a volunteer crossing guard?  Email me at ltakimoto@wccusd.net.
  4. Masks are required for EVERYONE outdoors on all district school sites.  Family members, please have your masks on (not gaiters) at all times outside the school – this is still campus property and always a crowd – when dropping off and picking up your child.

Take care and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Takimoto
