MENSAJE DE LA DIRECTORA TAKIMOTO (DEBAJO) –
Hello Harding Community,
This past week or so has been a whirlwind of information and conflicting opinions. While the board vote approved the tentative agreement for reopening schools for in-person learning, we have to wait one more week for the union vote. Unfortunately, until that happens, I cannot finalize, and hesitate to speculate on, what an in-person learning plan may be at Harding because it all depends on the number of staff and students. Please look to all communication from Superintendent Duffy and the central office for information and updates regarding reopening.
In the meantime, I recommend that we stay in the space of doing what we can…
- Continue to support the children and keep them out of the negative politics and conflicting opinions. Everyone will need to decide for themselves and/or their children.
- Continue to support the teachers since they have many of the same issues, concerns and desires as families.
- Continue to share and take in information so we are all expanding our perspectives and understanding.
- Take care of yourself.
- Choose to be mindful and grateful.
- Reach out for help when needed – family, neighbors, pediatrician, teachers, me, PTA, etc. This community has made all the difference in my ability to navigate this year and I thank you for your partnership.

Trimester 2 officially ends with the two-sided reports you will get in the mail shortly. Spring break is April 5-9. Picture Day is set for Friday, April 16 and information has gone out about how to order and when to come. Additionally, the state board of education has approved district requests for a waiver from administering the mandated state testing, SBAC, this spring. Many thanks to all those who wrote our state and local school boards. The district now awaits Secretary of Education Cardona’s decision but has a back up plan to extend the testing window into fall if needed.

La semana pasada ha sido un torbellino de información y opiniones contradictorias. Si bien la votación de la junta aprobó el acuerdo tentativo para abrir las escuelas para el aprendizaje en persona, tenemos que esperar una semana más para la votación del sindicato. Desafortunadamente, hasta que eso suceda, no puedo finalizar, y dudo en especular sobre lo que puede ser un plan de aprendizaje en persona en Harding porque todo depende de la cantidad de personal y estudiantes. Consulte todas las comunicaciones del Superintendente Duffy y la oficina central para obtener información y actualizaciones sobre la reapertura.

- Elija ser consciente y agradecido.
- Busque ayuda cuando sea necesario: familia, vecinos, pediatra, maestros, yo, PTA, etc. Esta comunidad ha marcado la diferencia en mi capacidad para navegar este año y les agradezco su colaboración.

El segundo trimestre termina oficialmente con la boleta de calificaciones que recibirá muy pronto por correo. Las vacaciones de primavera serán del 5 al 9 de abril. El día de las fotografías está programado para el viernes 16 de abril y se ha publicado información sobre cómo hacer un pedido y cuándo venir. Además, la junta de educación estatal ha aprobado las solicitudes del distrito para una exención de la administración de las pruebas estatales obligatorias, SBAC, esta primavera. Muchas gracias a todos los que contactaron a nuestras juntas escolares estatales y locales. El distrito ahora espera la decisión del Secretario de Educación Cardona, pero tiene un plan de respaldo para extender la ventana de pruebas hasta el otoño si es necesario.
