We had 19 attendees tuned into a very interesting presentation on “How California Funds its Schools” featuring the Bayside Council of PTAs Legislation Team – Leslie Reckler, (also WCCUSD Area #5 Trustee) and Tina Fidler, Mira Vista K-8 parent.

Marin County
13 out of 15 school districts in Marin are Basic Aid districts. Generally speaking, they do not receive LCFF state funding because they generate more funding through local property taxes. Here is a report on Basic Aid districts. https://www.ppic.org/content/pubs/report/R_913MWR.pdf

How funds are spent at schools.
Each school does have a staffing and funding matrix. There are a number of factors that determine that – enrollment, collective bargaining agreements, course offerings, whether it is an elementary school, middle, high, etc. Budgeting starts in October and continues through most of the year. However, the money that the SSC’s have the authority to create programs for and spend is readily available and here in the link:

Cada escuela tiene una matriz de dotación de personal y financiación. Hay una serie de factores que lo determinan: inscripción, convenios colectivos, oferta de cursos, ya sea una escuela primaria, secundaria, preparatoria, etc. El presupuesto comienza en octubre y continúa durante la mayor parte del año.
